Thank you for this article. I thought Anna May Wong was amazing in the film Piccadilly and it's interesting to see how she was "received" in the UK at the time.
Piccadilly is a wonderful film and AMW really shines in it. The film was made during a period when AMW felt her career in Hollywood had stalled—she could only get bit parts in B movies—so she went to Europe where they gave her leading roles. The irony is that she still died in many of those films too.
