Now that "Pavement Butterfly"/"Großstadtschmetterling" has been so lovingly restored and shown in premier locations in the US, Anna May's facility with displaying emotions is augmented. The plot is a trifle, an operetta without song, since silent, but a vehicle for Wong, which she drives very well, indeed.

The tears do flow, but the smiles come, too. Spoiler-she lives, and she gains, if not love, then wisdom.
